Late Payments

Late Payment Reporting Explained

A late payment marker is a statement about a specific month. That specificity is exactly why accuracy matters.

Payment history is typically reported month by month. Each marker asserts something specific: that a payment was or was not received on time in that period.

Because the assertion is specific, it can be examined specifically. Bank records, statements, and confirmations often tell a clearer story than memory does.

Accurate lateness

If a payment genuinely was late, the entry is generally reportable for the period permitted by law. The useful work is identifying entries that are not supported by the facts — not disputing every negative mark.
